Why Obama Trails in West Virginia

This is the sad state of affairs on the day before the contest in West Virginia. This is a quote from a Financial Times article

“I heard that Obama is a Muslim and his wife’s an atheist,” said Mr Simpson, drawing on a cigarette outside the fire station in Williamson, a coal mining town of 3,400 people surrounded by lush wooded hillsides. Source

No Democrat has been elected to the White House without carrying West Virginia since 1916 and I am not very optimistic of him winning this time but I doubt that plays the deciding factor in November. West Virginia is a hostile territory for Mr Obama because it has few of the African-Americans and affluent, college-educated whites who provide his strongest support. The state has the lowest college graduation rate in the US, the second lowest median household income, and one of the highest proportions of white residents, at 96 per cent.

I don’t understand how college educated whites is a weakness but I guess that just shows the demographic of the state and the sad state of affairs in the country.

Sergio Being Sergio

I have always been a fan of Sergio Garcia especially when he would be lined up as 2nd best golfer along with Phil Mickelson and be hyped as the one of those that could have dethrone Tiger Woods but it definitely Sergio’s personality that kept him up there as one of my favorites.

Just watch the first minute of the post-tournament interview after he wins The Players Championship at Sawgrass and he thanks Tiger Woods for not being in the tournament.

If You Build It…

I know Celtics are one of the favorites to win it all this year but through their ups and downs in the playoffs so far certainly had raised plenty of doubters. After watching this clip, I have a feeling KG is gonna continue to step up and literally carry his team even if Ray Allen and Paul Pierce struggle some more.

By the way, I was telling a friend of mine who has recently gotten into basketball about the type of player Bill Russell was… and man, what a person he is off the courts now.

Just a little sneak peek into his career highlights and awards:
