Obama Has A Lead In North Dakota?

This coming from DailyKos, which I pretty much read on a constant basis along with FiveThirtyEight.com who have great in-depth analysis as well as polls and statistical predictions:

George W. Bush won North Dakota twice, with 60% of the vote, to 38% for both Al Gore and John Kerry.

Bill Clinton failed to win the state twice, and his closest margin in the state came in 1996 when Bob Dole defeated him by 6.8%. This was as he was delivering a sound electoral-college thrashing to the Kansas senator, 379-159.

No Democrat has won the state since Lyndon B. Johnson in 1964. That was the most successful year for Democrats in the television era, as Johnson set a modern record with 61% of the vote, and carried everything but the Deep South and his opponent’s home state of Arizona.

Keep those things in mind as you process this poll from North Dakota: (after the break) Continue reading “Obama Has A Lead In North Dakota?”

Is CNN Saying Palin Is A Nazi?

Well CNN certainly has some bright people to work for them… and this is the best photo they could come up with for their front page?

She did give one heck of a speech last night… a bunch of empty rhetoric but that’s all she needed to do. Get through the night without any major mistakes which she did although if you are a conservative you have to be a little worried about her attacking the media and bringing her children into the spotlight. They are already digging up details on her past and now she has them pissed.

Also with her children… it’s okay to talk about her son since he’s going to fight in Iraq but her daughter who is having a baby is completely off-limits. Here is news for you: if one is fair game, everyone is fair game.

Presidential Message, Ramadan 2008

Got this from Saad at “Chill Yo, Islam Yo” who put it up this morning. A great blog for any Muslims out there or just in general if someone wants to learn more about Islam. Seems quite similar to the “greeting” sent out last year but I guess that is to be expected. Honestly, I didn’t think there was a message sent out annually but I guess you could at least say that he is trying publicly even when 99.9% of the people will see for what this really is – a publicity stunt and not that he ever cared.

Here is Saad’s post by the way:

Salam,

I don’t really blog about news, but this was quite interesting.

Here is a letter from the President of the United States aka George Bush, to all the Muslims around the World. Taken from the official whitehouse.gov website.

Presidential Message, Ramadan 2008

I send greetings to Muslims observing Ramadan in America and around the globe.

The holy month of Ramadan is a special time of prayer, fasting, and service. For Muslims, these days commemorate the revelation of God’s word to the Prophet Muhammad (SAWS) in the form of the Qur’an.

I thank the men and women of the Muslim community for their contributions to America. Your love of family, and gratitude to God have strengthened the moral fabric of our country. Our Nation is stronger and more hopeful because of the generosity, talents, and compassion of our Muslim citizens.

Laura and I send our best wishes. Ramadan Mubarak.

GEORGE W. BUSH

May Allah (SWT) swt guide the people and the leaders of this country, Ameen!

Quick Election Thoughts

Obama/Biden vs. McCain/Palin should be interesting as history gets made either way with an African American President or first ever female Vice President. It should be an exciting sprint to the finish although I am quite surprised with the pick of a Governor from Alaska. She is younger than Barack Obama and has one year of being Governor on her belt – how are they going to attack Obama on experience and age now? Anyways, I’ll go more into this as the debates approach or maybe a little bit during the Republican National Convention.

If you want some good video footage, head over to The World According To Me by Ayaz and From My Perspective by Summaiyah, she’s got some good quotes from the speeches if you want to take a quick glance. Ayaz put up good videos from all four nights, some real good stuff over there.

If there is one speech you want to watch and want to see a relative new face… then watch the Governor of Montana Brian Schweitzer – who gave a very good speech. I had never heard of him before but he certainly brought the crowd to their feet.

Here’s a tidbit on McCain/Palin:

Year Alaska was admitted into the Union: 1959
Year John McCain was born: 1936

Hence, John McCain is about 22-23 years older than the state of Alaska.
