Nevada Caucuses

Let me just summarize what happened in Nevada…

– Hilary Clinton won the popular vote (51%-45%)
– Barack Obama picked up more delegates (13-12)
– Mitt Romney picked up a crucial victory
– Ron Paul finished 2nd with 14% of the votes

– I do not understand why Rudy Guiliani is still in the race
– I do not understand why Fred Thompson is still in the race
– I will excluse Ron Paul and Dennis Kucinich because they are both lunatics

Be Afraid America

I am sure most of you have seen this clip already but it sort of has been the talk ever since Huckabee said it. I heard a great comment but not sure where it is is from… If it was from anyone but Huckabee we would dismiss this idea as complete religious fanaticism but since he has the charisma and is able to talk, he is still considered a Republican front runner. Be afraid America.

Sliming Obama

Just received an interesting email from FactCheck.org. I figured it was only a matter of time before these types of “swiftboat” actions start to take place on a much wider scale. The country fell for it in 2004, I can only wonder how they will react to it this time…

Dueling chain e-mails claim he’s a radical Muslim or a ‘racist’ Christian. Both can’t be right. We find both are false.

Summary

If these two nasty e-mail messages are any indication, the 2008 presidential campaign is becoming a very dirty one.

One claims that Obama is “certainly a racist” by virtue of belonging to Chicago’s Trinity United Church of Christ, which it says “will accept only black parishoners” and espouses a commitment to Africa. Actually, a white theology professor says he’s been “welcomed enthusiastically” at the church, as have other non-blacks.

Another e-mail claims that Obama “is a Muslim,” attended a “Wahabi” school in Indonesia, took his Senate oath on the Koran, refuses to recite the Pledge of Allegiance and is part of an Islamic plot to take over the U.S. Each of these statements is false.

These false appeals to bigotry and fear remind us of the infamous whispering campaign of eight years ago, when anonymous messages just before the South Carolina primary falsely accused Republican candidate John McCain of fathering an illegitimate child by a black woman.

Umm… What Happened?

Chris Matthews on MSNBC is still trying to figure out what just happened tonight. What underlying factor played a role in all of these polls being incorrect and not just by a few points here or there, but 10-15 points. Was it race that played a factor where a predominantly White state told pollsters they would support Obama but when they went in to vote… they, as I had originally thought, that Americans just are not ready to support an Black man…

Congratulations to the Clinton camp who have certainly found a second wind early on where it seemed like she was dead in the water. I am certain this puts the African American vote in South Carolina up in the air whether they will go back to supporting the Clintons or can they support “one of their own”.

Now there are talks about a union nomination that Obama was supposed to get from Nevada is being put on hold which could have devastating repercussions to the campaign but as we found out tonight, it is way to early to announce anything. As of today, less than one half of one percent of the American electorate has voted… why not give the other people some say as well before jump on a nominee.

P.S. up to day four now on the MIA amigo

New Hampshire

So the early result from the very first voting in New Hampshire were in early morning. It’s from this little town with 17 registered voters that always vote at midnight and have this tendency to be quite accurate in predicting the eventual nominees from both parties. Obama and McCain pick up early momentum by winning that town’s primary for their parties. Meanwhile for the rest of the state, primaries close about 8 PM tonight I think, so look forward to tonight for what I am expecting to be another Obama victory (hopefully)… 2/2 would be nice to start a campaign, don’t you think?

Meanwhile, I still have not heard from my friend overseas and we are up to the 3rd day now… official counter will be up shortly somewhere.

P.S. What a joke yesterday’s Roger Clemens press conference was. McNamee seemed like a mentally unstable person at the moment and how cheap did Clemens look recording the phone call without letting the other side know? Either way, not like he got any new information or got McNamee to admit he lied or anything… what a total waste.
