I’m White. I’m Entitled?

So here is a clip of Father Michael Pfleger, speaking Sunday at the Trinity United Church of Christ, where he said Hilary Clinton was a white supremacist who believed she would win the nomination because of “white entitlement.” I wonder if this will be a lingering issue as Pfleger has been a noted spiritual advisor for Barack Obama for decades while he has lived in Chicago. Even though he has since apologized for his words, these types of problems continue to linger on for Obama and will start to stick sooner or later.

Any comments or thoughts on what the guy said? Makes interesting points regardless of the matter he said it in… I’m not sure there really is a proper way to say what he said.

Here is a short text of the most controversial part of his speaking…

I really believe that she just always thought ‘This is mine’. ‘I’m Bill’s wife. I’m WHITE. And this is mine. And I jus’ gotta get up. And step into the plate. And then out of nowhere came, ‘Hey, I’m Barack Obama.’ And she said: ‘Oh, damn!’ WHERE DID YOU COME FROM!?!?! I’M WHITE! I’M ENTITLED! THERE’S A BLACK MAN STEALING MY SHOW. SHE WASN’T THE ONLY ONE CRYING! THERE WAS A WHOLE LOTTA WHITE PEOPLE CRYING!

Why Obama Trails in West Virginia

This is the sad state of affairs on the day before the contest in West Virginia. This is a quote from a Financial Times article

“I heard that Obama is a Muslim and his wife’s an atheist,” said Mr Simpson, drawing on a cigarette outside the fire station in Williamson, a coal mining town of 3,400 people surrounded by lush wooded hillsides. Source

No Democrat has been elected to the White House without carrying West Virginia since 1916 and I am not very optimistic of him winning this time but I doubt that plays the deciding factor in November. West Virginia is a hostile territory for Mr Obama because it has few of the African-Americans and affluent, college-educated whites who provide his strongest support. The state has the lowest college graduation rate in the US, the second lowest median household income, and one of the highest proportions of white residents, at 96 per cent.

I don’t understand how college educated whites is a weakness but I guess that just shows the demographic of the state and the sad state of affairs in the country.

Completely Random Stuff

1) Charles Barkley gets owned by his TNT co-worker Ernie Johnson. Definitely a MUST WATCH.

2) A Barack Obama And1 style mixtape that my roommate Joe sent me yesterday.

3) A ridiculous catch by Quinnipiac outfielder Brian Monack and he comes on ESPN to talk about it.

John McCain on TDS

Presumptive Republican nominee Senator John McCain was on last night’s The Daily Show with Jon Stewart and I always love it when he comes on. He’s got a great personality and isn’t afraid to joke around on issues. One specific part that I really loved was when they came back from the break and Stewart starts asking him a question which starts out very seriously about Barack Obama and his Rev. Wright issue and McCain who has his own pastor issue… but the twist that Jon Stewart throws on the question that everyone else though was going somewhere else really made it one of the best scenes of the Daily Show I have seen in quite a while. I might even rank this in the top 5 all time.

If you don’t want to watch the entire clip, just watch the first 90 seconds and you get that question (clip below).

ABC Debate: Comedy Hour?

A lot of people have made a big deal with about the debates before where Hilary was asked tough questions and now with Obama. I have no problem with the media trying to investigate these guys (and girl) thoroughly but do it on the issues. It is not important to this election whether the guy wears a flag pin in the Senate or what he thinks about his neighbor (one that he had a limited relationship with) and his dealings with The Weather Underground in the 1960s (when Obama wasn’t even 10 years old yet!). No one questioned why McCain and Clinton haven’t worn their pins in the Senate and that’s fine because that is not an issue that someone should be (or should not be) elected President. I think Jon Stewart pointed out that the first question on economy was posed to the candidates about 50 minutes and 16 questions into the debate… shows where their priorities lied that night.

It matters what they have planned regarding the country’s failing economy, the healthcare system and soaring gas prices that have seeming gone up 10 cents in the past week. I think it was a real joke what ABC did with this past “debate” and it just seemed like a partisan attack from the get go. The moment you have someone who moderates a debate that was a key figure in Bill Clinton’s administration certainly raises questions about the integrity of the debate. Hopefully the Pennsylvanian voters are smarter than that and can see through the mud slinging politics that we are still stuck in today.

Anyways, ran across this clip on YouTube and it is pretty funny. A mock George Stephanopoulos interview with Senator John McCain on the “real” issues but you would never know it if you actually watch the debates or interviews.
