MLB Preview… Sorta?

I thought about doing an entire MLB preview but that is just too much to write for very little in return so I’ll do an Over/Under to a line that my brother put up from some where in Vegas. Check out his post here. Maybe I’ll do something with the Jays, Yankees, Red Sox or maybe if you have a team you want to talk about, send me something and I’ll put it up / comment on it.

They give each team a number on how many games they will win the upcoming year and you guess (or bet) whether they will go over or under the amount. Here are my guesses (no betting here).

A couple of ones that I will point out are Boston at OVER 94, Cubs at OVER 87.5 (I expect them to win the division), and the winner of AL West which is usually a strong division to be UNDER 92 (LA Angels).

Let me know what you think, if you don’t want to post on all of the teams, take your favorite team and a couple of their rivals and let’s see where you rate them.

Listed below are my picks:

Arizona UNDER 86.5
Atlanta OVER 86
Baltimore UNDER 65
Boston OVER 94
Chicago (N) OVER 87.5
Chicago (A) UNDER 76
Cincinnati UNDER 76.5
Cleveland UNDER 91
Colorado OVER 83
Detroit OVER 93.5
Florida OVER 68.5
Houston UNDER 73.5
Kansas City UNDER 73.5
LA Angels UNDER 92
LA Dodgers OVER 87.5
Milwaukee UNDER 84
Minnesota OVER 73.5
NY Mets OVER 92.5
NY Yankees UNDER 94
Oakland OVER 74
Philadelphia UNDER 88
Pittsburgh OVER 68.5
San Diego OVER 85
San Francisco UNDER 72
Seattle UNDER 85
St. Louis UNDER 77
Tampa Bay OVER 72
Texas UNDER 75
Toronto OVER 84
Washington OVER 71.5

Volunteer at Yankee Stadium?

The New York Yankees are looking for volunteer who want to work during this summer’s Major League Baseball All-Star weekend that is hosted at Yankee Stadium from July 11th to the 15th.

You have the option for signing up for either “New York Ambassador” or “DHL All-Star FanFest Volunteer”. An ambassador you could greet guests at hotels, or other parts of the city, working on transportation, assisting with hospitality events or helping with clerical duties. As a FanFest volunteer, you can become a host, information guide, skills game coach or any of the dozens of other interesting and challenging positions at the world’s largest baseball showcase. As if just participating in one of those events was not enough, you will end up receiving “a commemorative shirt, cap, lanyard, and fanny pack, as well as a special 2008 All-Star Volunteer gift.”

So if you a few days free in the summer (Thursday to a Tuesday), why not apply and see what happens especially since this is the year for Yankee Stadium before the new one opens up. I applied and so have a couple of my friends. If you are interested, click on the link at the beginning of the post or below.

“The 79th All-Star Game will be played on Tuesday, July 15, 2008 at Yankee Stadium. In addition to the Tuesday night All-Star Game, All-Star Week festivities bring a variety of events to New York. The DHL All-Star FanFestĀ®, Taco Bell All-Star Sunday, XM Satellite Radio All-Star Futures Game, Taco Bell Legends/Celebrity Softball Game, Gatorade All-Star Workout Day, and the State Farm Home Run Derby will span the five days (July 11th-15th).”

Virginia Trip and a Question

Question:

Suppose your find out your very best friend killed someone (either from him/her, or you saw him/her, or whatever). Would you tell the police?

That’s a random question I’m going to ask if you read the start of the post… but if you want the story, continue reading below.

——————————————-

So I had an impromptu trip to Virginia earlier today (technically yesterday). This trip had been planned to happen almost every day over the course of the past week and it sort of just happened. Of all of the days to travel 4 hours South while West Virginia beats Duke, Kansas State falls to Wisconsin, Pittsburgh is defeated by Michigan State and Stanford and UCLA barely hold on to win their respective games against Marquette and Texas A&M. A special thanks to my official score-updater-texter-caller-person with a pink eye. Anyone who wants to update me on the games tomorrow, I’d appreciate a text every now and then.

Right now two of my cousins along with my sister and brother are randomly talking about something and what makes someone an accomplice if someone stole something or robbed a bank, I don’t really know and I’m not really paying attention.

It leads me to ask a question that a friend of mine asked the other day. Feel free to answer it in the comments. I just want to see what people would say, I’ve asked a couple of people already and the answers range from yes to no but its the reasoning that’s always intriguing.

Question:

Suppose your find out your very best friend killed someone (either from him/her, or you saw him/her, or whatever). Would you tell the police?

I Approve This Message.

This could be the start of something if the Main Stream Media decides to actually show this, but we’ll see. I love this commercial. Casey Knowles reveals that her footage used in the original Clinton ad is from 8 years ago when they shot the commerical DURING THE DAY! Then they tint the video blue to add the “fear factor”. It’s good to see this girl continue to speak out that against the politics of fear.

Realistically however I really don’t expect the MSM, which is supposed to be so Pro-Obama to show any of this. They’ll just focus on their pastor news or that he-might-be-a-muslim news and continue to feed the fear…

A Really Rotten Apple

As if Apple really needed to give me a reason to not like them anymore. Let me preface this by saying this… Yes I have an iPod that was gifted to me several years back and yes I use it to listen to music on the go but more and more I have gotten angry with it, with iTunes and now the Apple Software Update program.

The hassle of the proprietary software use with Apple has just gone over the top. I have been limited to using iTunes for my music because of my iPod and if I want to use something else, I’ll still have to update my playlist in iTunes if I want to update it on my iPod. I have pretty much given up on that fact and I just stick to using the resource hog program. I will say though I like the rating system, the “Top Rated” songs only playlist and the smart playlist that changes on the fly according to the criteria you have set.

Anyways, that’s enough praise for Apple from me. What ticked me off today occurred while I was eagerly awaiting a Windows Update to occur so I could install the Service Pack 1 for Vista that was finally released. While I am waiting… my screen gets littered with this prompt from the Apple Software Update Program.

Honestly, I almost had the urge of uninstalling iTunes right there on the spot and never using my iPod or iTunes again. I am quite happy using my Firefox 3 (Beta 4) which I might add has been running quite smoothly and I can’t wait for the final release. I don’t need no Safari on my laptop. No Safari is not the “fastest and easiest-to-use web browser for the PC”. I don’t need Apple trashing my computer with more of their products and lies.

I apologize to all the readers who are Mac fans but I cannot stand it anymore… and that’s why I’m ranting at this time of night. I am truly an Angry Brown Guy right now!
